This is a guide to go through the exceptions within the overnight import page. This is only for customer that have an automated data feed.
Understanding the different exception types.
Within the system there are 4 key different exceptions types: Addition, Change, Remove, Invalid.
These are colour coded and shown at the top to help quickly identify the exceptions you want to focus on.

Red: Invalid record
Green: New individual record
Orange: A change to an individual that exists in IAR
Purple: A duplicate record
Grey: An existing individual in IAR needs to be deactivated
Green - New individual/Addition
These records are new individuals that are to be added to the system and the data in the feed is valid. They can be added in bulk either by selecting some/all green records using the check boxes on the left to select.

Or by clicking Import individuals and selecting Import all valid additions and Import.

Orange - Update
These records are valid changes to existing individuals and can be imported individually or in bulk.

Red - Invalid
These records contain something that is not valid. To see what it is hover over the exclamation and the reason will appear. This could be various things. In the example below the Department needs adding to the system before this records can be imported.

Some fields have validations settings. The example below shows the red record cannot be imported as the NINO is not in the correct format. In this case the data in the feed file will need updating.

There may be other reasons a record is not valid. Some common examples are below:
- line manager changes that have a hierarchy issue
- line manager doesn't exist in the system
- locations or departments that don't exist yet
- firm name, employment, department etc...don't match any of those that already exist in the system.
Add locations and Departments
When the feed file processes new Locations and Departments may be included. These can be added in bulk by clicking the relevant button.

Then select any you wish to add, or exclude. Click Add to complete the action.

Ignoring records
When something is coming over in the feed that isn't correct or shouldn't be recorded in Trailight, and can't be changed, you can ignore this record(s) so it doesn't continue to flag. Check the box to select the record you wish to ignore and click the Ignore selected record(s) button.

Enter an ignore reason if required and click Ignore record(s).

The record(s) will then be placed on the Ignored individuals tab. The records will not appear again on the exceptions page unless something else changes. These records can be moved back to the exceptions page by checking the box to the left and clicking the Remove selected ignore record(s) button.
