Journeys consist of a series of Events, each of which is designated as a Step. Every step within the journey must be completed in sequence before progressing to the next.
A good example of this is an individual's Competency Stages, where specific requirements must be met before advancing from Stage 1 to Stage 2, and ultimately achieving Competent Adviser status.
Creating a new Journey
To create a new Journey, navigate to Events > Manage Journeys and select New Journey from the lower right.
Journey Details
On the "Create Journey" page, you can name the journey, decide whether it should appear on the individual's dashboard, and define the steps for the journey.

To add steps, click "Add New Step" and choose the events. To select multiple events at once, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking.

Once selected the steps can be given a due date, this can be based on the start date of the journey, or from when the last journey step was completed. There is also an option to allow the due date to be modified after the journey has been assigned.

Permissions
The permissions tab allows you to set who can assign this journey:

There is also an option for "Auto-add this Journey based on Conditions", with this selected you can set rules to automatically apply the journey to individuals based on predefined rules.

Once completed click save, based on the rules the Journey will be ready to be added to individuals Working Towards tab, or automatically added based on the rules.
To add a journey manually, navigate to the individuals Working Towards tab and select Add Journey:

You can then work through the wizard selecting the journey, start date, and due dates (if set to be configurable):
