CPD Overview
An overview on the CPD functionality in PRM

In this guide, we'll walk you through the key components of CPD management within PRM, including setting up and managing CPD targets, assigning targets to users, and tracking progress through reports.

Navigating the CPD Menu

The CPD section in PRM offers several options from the main menu to manage both individual and organization-wide CPD requirements. Below is a summary of each option available:

  • Add To My CPD: Log individual CPD activities and track progress toward targets.
  • Administrator CPD Report: View and generate reports summarizing CPD activity across users.
  • My CPD Report: Generate a personalized report summarizing your CPD activities.
  • Manage CPD Targets: Create and assign CPD targets to individuals.
  • Manage Internal Target Names: Add or modify internal target names for ease of organization.
  • Manage Sub-Target Names: Define sub-target names for tracking CPD activities more granularly.
  • Manage Development Categories: Set and categorize different types of development areas.
  • Manage Learning Validations: Configure validation criteria for learning activities logged within CPD.

These options allow administrators and users to log and structure CPD records to ensure all professional development is accurately tracked.

Setting Up CPD Targets

The Manage CPD Targets feature provides the flexibility to set and customize CPD targets based on the needs of the organization or specific roles. When creating a new target, you’ll find several sections to configure detailed criteria, ensuring that CPD requirements align with internal or regulatory expectations.

Target Details

Each new target includes configurable fields within the Target Details section:

  • Category: Choose from a drop-down menu with the following options:
    • Internal: Targets set internally by the organization.
    • Professional Body: Targets required by professional associations.
    • Accredited Body: Targets required by accredited bodies.
    • Regulatory Body: Targets mandated by regulatory bodies.
  • Target Type: Select between:
    • Fixed 12 Months: A set 12-month period for target achievement.
    • Rolling 12 Months: A continuous 12-month period from the starting point of the target.

Target

Based on the selected Category, the Target section will allow you to set a corresponding internal, professional, accredited, or regulatory target. A Manage button provides access to view existing targets or add new ones.

Setting CPD Requirements

Each target can be configured with detailed requirements, ensuring that users fulfill minimum CPD hours and specific structured activities. Here’s a breakdown of the options:

  • Minimum Hours of CPD: Enter the minimum required hours and minutes that users must log to meet this target.
  • Minimum Structured CPD Hours (Optional): Toggle on if structured CPD hours are required and specify the minimum amount.
  • Additional Information Mandatory: If selected, this option makes certain fields mandatory for CPD entries related to this target, including:
    • Development Category
    • Development Reason
    • Learning Outcomes
    • Learning Validation
    • Reflective Statement
  • Relevance: Specify the target's relevance based on:
    • Job Role
    • Administration
    • Location

Adding Sub-Targets

Sub-targets allow for more granular tracking within a broader CPD goal. When adding a sub-target, a modal window appears with fields to specify:

  • Select Sub-Target: Choose from existing sub-targets.
  • Minimum Hours of CPD: Define the minimum hours and minutes.
  • Minimum Structured CPD Hours (optional): Optionally set a minimum for structured hours.
  • Relevance: Configure relevance settings based on job role, administration, or location.

Once these fields are completed, save the sub-target information to add it to the main CPD target.

Finalizing and Assigning Targets

After completing the target configuration, click Save. A new tab will appear, showing the current number of users with the target assigned.

To assign the target to users, click the Assign Target to People button. From here, you can select individuals who need to meet this CPD target, helping you ensure that CPD requirements are assigned and tracked consistently across your team.

Tracking Progress and Generating Reports

PRM makes it easy to monitor CPD progress at both individual and organizational levels. With the Administrator CPD Report and My CPD Report options, you can generate detailed insights into target achievement, time logged, and completion of structured activities.
